Civil Engineering

I changed my major halfway through my sophomore year. I was well on my way to completing my environmental science degree, but felt I could make a larger positive impact on the environment and communities as a civil engineer. At the time, this decision seemed huge and life-altering, and while it was intimidating, it was made easier with the help and assurance of UofSC faculty and the close friends I have made here. Civil engineering has brought new challenges and new opportunities and given me a new confidence that I am on the right path to achieving my goals. Through this experience, I have learned that life can be dynamic and that when change inevitably comes, to embrace it wholeheartedly. 

Future plans: Claire will work as a civil designer for Seamon Whiteside & Associates Inc., an engineering consulting firm in Charlotte, North Carolina.
